In the first post of my Wedding Series, I share how we went through the process of choosing the perfect wedding invitation to match our wedding style and venue.

It’s now been 23 days of Happily Ever After for me and Nick. I can’t believe how fast it’s gone by. Everyone told me that it would just fly and to savor each moment! After planning the wedding for eleven months, I am honestly a little sad it’s already over. I keep saying I want to do it all over again!
While we did have a few stressful planning moments and some tears, overall the wedding planning process went really well. Nick and I agreed on our colors pretty quickly (blush + navy) and that we wanted a rustic, romantic wedding. We found our venue quickly– two weeks after being engaged and I’m pretty sure it was the first one we looked at.
Our venue had a really pretty ceremony space– a large green grass yard with a white pergola with ivy growing behind it. Next to the pergola was a courtyard, with bricks dating back to the 1800’s lining the patio. Overheard hung two large string lights that lit up the whole courtyard. We fell in love with those string lights right away!
When we started looking for wedding invitations, we knew we wanted to somehow tie in our wedding colors, and elements from the venue if possible.
Of all the websites we could order invitations from (and there’s a lot), we liked Wedding Paper Divas the best. They have a huge variety of choices, colors, patterns, and ways to customize your order.
You can order samples of any invitations that you like, and they also have a wedding sample pack that includes all of the different papers, envelopes, sizes, etc. We must have ordered ten different samples! We couldn’t decide between one, two, three, four, and five.
In the end, we had trouble deciding between four and five. I really liked four’s rustic script, but didn’t like that there wasn’t much room to write out our names, which is something that I thought was important. Also, five was foil printed.
So we decided to go with #5! We loved the whimsical, romantic trees in the background because our venue had large trees that arched over the ceremony site. We also loved the foil-pressed string lights, which matched the ones at the venue.
We ordered the full suite. Invitations, RSVP cards, detail cards, envelope liners, inner and outer pearl shimmer envelopes, and matching address labels. What was really neat, is an actual designer looks at your order before it’s printed. We requested that the blue be lightened a tiny bit for all the pieces to create more of a lighter navy, and they made it the exact color that we wanted!
I had so much fun putting together the invitation suites, because they were so beautiful! We received several compliments about how pretty our invitations were and that they felt very high quality.
If you are getting married soon or know someone who is, I highly recommend going through Wedding Paper Divas!
