My friend Dixya has started doing these Friday Virtual Coffee Date posts and I thought I’d join in! Life has been crazy lately (only to get more crazy) so I think these will be a great way to let you guys know whats going on in my life currently!

If we were having coffee this morning, I’d tell you that I won the Texas Academy’s 2016 Media Award last night! It was such an honor to even be nominated. There’s still so much for me to learn about this world of nutrition and the media. I love how supportive everyone is in the dietitian blogging/media world.

If we were having coffee this morning, I’d tell you that this has been one crazy week. On Monday, I fell victim to the IRS phone scam that’s been going around. I got a call around 8:15 Monday morning from some guy telling me I was behind on my taxes and that I owed $5,000 and that there was a warrant out for my arrest. I felt like it was a scam… the IRS doesn’t just cold call people like that.

Anyway, I freaked out because 1) the guy was really harassing me on the phone, getting more angry the more I accused him of scamming me and 2) he told me someone would come to my apartment within the hour to arrest me. I hung up the phone and immediately called the police, and the dispatch told me it was all a scam. An officer was nice enough to come by my apartment to reassure me but it was all pretty scary.

If we were having coffee this morning, I’d tell you that I was rear-ended on Tuesday on my way home from (my second to last day) work.

The picture looks better than real life– the whole right bumper is pushed in and the trunk wouldn’t close. I took it to a repair shop yesterday and they deemed it undrivable due to the trunk issue. I did get a pretty snazzy rental car that’s a big upgrade from my car, so it’ll at least be fun to drive around for a couple weeks! Nobody got hurt, it could have been worse.

If we were having coffee this morning, I’d tell you that Wednesday was my last day at The Heart Hospital here in Plano, TX. I worked there for three years, doing outpatient counseling. It was so sad to say bye to everyone but I couldn’t be more thankful for such a wonderful first job.

If we were having coffee this morning, I’d tell you that I start my NEW job with Dairy MAX on Monday! I’m going to be a School Wellness Consultant. I am so excited to begin a new path with something very different from my hospital job. I think it’ll be a ton of fun.

I’d also tell you that I’m feeling pretty overwhelmed lately— especially this week. With the thing that happened Monday, getting rear ended and dealing with repair shops/rental cars, saying goodbye to everyone at the hospital, and getting ready to move in just four short weeks. Blog posts have been lacking… but as Thich Nhat Hanh says in the above quote– we can be more successful if we let go of the habit of running all the time.

Right now I am definitely feeling like I’m going 100 miles per hour and thing after thing keeps happening. But taking a step back for self care is necessary. This weekend I plan to relax and rest before my big week.

What would you tell me if we were having coffee this morning?

  1. If we were having coffee this morning i’d tell you how glad I am to be having coffee together with you because I miss you and that I’m so glad we had our shopping day together last week. And I hope that even after you move we find ways to get together as often as we can.

  2. Grandma says:

If we were having coffe and you told me about your week I would give you a hug, tell you how proud I am of your award and your new job—- then maybe we’d switch to a little libation to celebrate YOU!
