My 5 Favorite Handheld Kitchen Gadgets

February 14, 2017

Sometimes the most useful kitchen gadgets are the small, handheld ones! Check out my top five favorite handheld kitchen gadgets — including a lemon juicer and a julienne peeler.
I am basically the queen of all kitchen gadgets. You name it, and I’ve probably got it. When we made our wedding registry, we didn’t put many kitchen gadgets on the list because I already had them! Below the video are descriptions and uses of my top five favorite kitchen gadgets as well as a link to where you can buy it (not affiliate links).

Sometimes the most useful items come in small packages– as shown by my top five favorite handheld kitchen gadgets! Enjoy the video!

Lemon Juicer

Handheld juicers are really nice for a variety of dishes. I use my lemon juicer for mixing lemon juice into salad dressings, soups, pasta dishes, and sauces. You can also juice a lime just as well, which I use for cocktails! Here’s a good juicer on Amazon.

Veggie Peeler

This might seem pretty simple — every kitchen probably has a veggie peeler– but the shape makes a big difference. The “y” shape gives you more of a handle on the veggie you’re cutting and makes it less likely that you’ll cut yourself. The serrated edges works better for tougher veggies like carrots and potatoes. Try this heavy duty veggie peeler and julienne peeler combo.

Julienne Peeler

I use my julienne peeler all the time when I don’t feel like getting out the spiralizer. It cuts thin strips of whatever veggie you like! Carrots, zucchini and cucumber work particularly well.

Microplane Zester

A microplane zester is great for lime/lemon zest, parmesan, fresh ginger, garlic and even chocolate! Use it to make tiny shavings for garnishes. I have this zester and it works great.

Kitchen Shears

A sharp set of kitchen shears are wonderful for many reasons. I like to use mine to cut the stems of fresh parsley, which can then be put in a glass of water and set on the counter, where it’ll stay fresh and crisp for a week or two. You can also use it to snip other herbs like basil, thyme, oregano and mint. My shears came with my Wusthof knife set, but these shears look great too.

What a cute video Emily! I agree with your top 5 gadgets! I love my julienne peeler but don’t use it often enough. Thanks for the reminder!
