Strawberry Kiwi Basil Salad

Fragrant fresh strawberries, sweet SunGold Zespri kiwi, lime juice and salty goat cheese come together in this refreshing fruit salad!

Happy Friday! It’s been a whirlwind of a week– I was in Maine through Wednesday and last night my future sister in law flew in for my bridal shower / bachelorette party weekend! All the fun stuff is happening tomorrow and I couldn’t be more excited. 

Strawberry Kiwi Basil Salad | Zen & Spice

Today I wanted to share a quick fruit salad recipe that can be thrown together quickly and tastes delicious. I love dishes that are both sweet and salty– and this dish is definitely both! 

You get the saltiness from soft goat cheese crumbles and the sweetness from fresh strawberries and golden kiwi. This was my first time trying golden kiwi and it was delicious! When I think of kiwi, I think of a fuzzy skin and bright green flesh. But sun gold kiwis are a soft, pretty yellow inside and the skins actually aren’t fuzzy at all. 

Strawberry Kiwi Basil Salad | Zen & Spice

SunGold kiwifruit is a new variety of kiwi, and are a cross between gold varieties of kiwifruit.  They have a juicy, yellow flesh, and a tropical-sweet taste. You can take them anywhere because you can just cut them in half and scoop the fruit out with a spoon! 

They’re so healthy for you too– one kiwi has three times more vitamin C as an orange and as much potassium as a banana. Plus, two grams of gut-healthy fiber in each kiwi.

You’ve got to try these sweet little golden nuggets along with strawberries, basil, and salty goat cheese. It’s so refreshing. I might make more for this week– it’s hot here in Dallas (sometimes 105 degrees…).

Strawberry Kiwi Basil Salad

Ingredients
  1. 1 Zespri SunGold Kiwifruit, sliced (peeled for your preference)
  2. 1-2 handfuls strawberries, sliced thin
  3. handful of fresh basil leaves
  4. juice from 1 lime
  5. 2 Tbsp goat cheese
  6. honey, for drizzling
Instructions
  1. Combine the kiwi, strawberries, and basil in a bowl. Pour the lime juice over and gently stir to combine. Top with goat cheese and a hefty drizzle of honey.
