Creamy parmesan orzo is the perfect addition to a weeknight meal! Orzo pasta shapes folded into a olive oil and flour roux along with shaved parmesan cheese.
Cook the orzo according to the package directions. Drain and set aside.
Meanwhile, heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the olive oi, garlic and onion powder. Cook for 2 minutes. Whisk in the flour and cook for a few minutes. Slowly whisk in the milk, cook until thickened.
Stir in the parmesan and season with salt, pepper, cayenne. Fold in the fresh basil and orzo.
