Happy Monday! Today I’m excited to share my entry for the #WildYourSmoothie contest. After the new year, we’re all looking for ways to add more nutritious foods to our lifestyles. Smoothies are an efficient and tasty way to pack in a wide variety of nutrients!

Wild Blueberries are the perfect ingredient for any smoothie because they have a more intense flavor, and twice the antioxidants of regular blueberries! They have an intense purple color that will give your smoothies life, and improve gut health, diabetes, and brain health.

These little berries are individually quick frozen to lock in nutrition and taste. They really do come from the “wild”– they are not planted, and only occur naturally in fields called “barrens” in Maine and Eastern Canada.

Wild Blueberry Thai Zinger Smoothie: Exotic Thai flavors, such as coconut milk, mint, lime, and ginger, come together in this smooth and creamy Wild Blueberry smoothie that will wake up your taste buds and make you re-think your regular smoothie! So, what makes this smoothie a “Thai Zinger” smoothie? Traditional Thai herbs and flavors include ginger, mint, lime, coconut, and honey.

To make this smoothie, avocado is blended together with Wild blueberries, coconut milk, lime juice, honey, fresh ginger and yes, jalapeno! Now before you squint your eyes and go “What?! Jalapeno in a smoothie, is she crazy?”, just hear me out.

There is no dairy used in this smoothie, because the sound of jalapeno with yogurt or milk sounded terrible. The only dairy that jalapeno should go with is cheese. I used coconut milk and avocado to make this smoothie creamy, and both are neutral and “tropical” enough to go with jalapeno. And we’re only using a fourth of a small jalapeno here, so it’s a very mild kick of jalapeno, which pairs SO nicely with the fresh ginger. It’s all sweetened up with honey, stevia, and the natural sweetness of Wild Blueberries.

You’ve got to garnish this smoothie with a long sprig of fresh mint, and it really helps all the flavors marry together.
