What’s In My Fridge?

April 2, 2014

Robin, a culinary and nutrition expert based in Dallas, and blogger over at Robin’s Bite, has a really great series called “In The Fridge”. She asks bloggers from all over a series of questions not only about what they keep in their fridge, but their shopping and cooking habits, favorite kitchen appliances, cookbooks and more!

Here’s my fridge as of this week!

My fridge is usually full of prepped foods and leftovers, since we like to prep ahead of time and make big batches of meals and eat off of leftovers for a couple days in a row.

I usually have a carton of eggs or two (I like to hard boil them and eat for breakfast), Greek yogurt, chia seeds, ground flax seed, and plenty of fresh fruits and veggies. My boyfriend and I do like our soda… so you’ll usually find Diet Coke/Coke Zero and my favorite, Diet Dr. Pepper. I also like to keep cranberry and lemon juice to flavor my water.

You can see my leftovers from this week– coleslaw from a get-together we had over the weekend, sauteed green beans, tomato sauce, mashed potatoes. In the container with the pink lid, I have cheesy quinoa broccoli patties that I made for my lunches this week. I am a huge advocate of prepping as much as you can ahead of time.

Below are my fruit and veggie drawers, I usually have lettuce, spinach, baby carrots, zucchini, yellow squash, cucumbers, apples, oranges, and sometimes avocados.

Here are my side shelves. Stapes include butter, Brummel & Brown (absolute fav butter substitute), sour cream mixed with ranch seasoning, my probiotics, various salad dressings, light soy sauce, Parmesan cheese, bee pollen, BBQ sauce, salsas, almond milk and mayo.

ITF: Where do you shop for food?

For the bulk of my shopping list, I mainly go to our Wal-Mart to get the lowest prices around here. Most of the time their produce looks pretty good. When it doesn’t, I head over to Whole Foods for produce and any other specialty or health food items.

ITF: Do you love food shopping or dread it?

I actually like going to the grocery store! I love looking at all the fresh produce and learning about new products. If I’m short on time that weekend, shopping can get a little annoying. Having a grocery list so I can get in and out helps a lot.

ITF: What are your go-to food/nutrition/culinary/cooking website/s, book or cookbooks?

Pinterest is where I get a majority of my recipes! I also get recipes from The Pioneer Woman, Williams Sonoma, All Recipes, and other bloggers such as Skinny Taste, Inspiralized and The Lean Green Bean.

I’m always fascinated to see how other people stock their fridges! I love your ample food prep, and now I’m wishing I had a big tupperware full of quinoa patties too!
