My New Favorite Blogging Tool: CoSchedule

March 3, 2015

This post contains a referral link. I was not compensated for this review, but I will receive a discount on my membership, as well as a credit to my account if you sign up. All thoughts and opinions are 100% honest and my own.

Blogger friends! Today I wanted to share with you one of my new favorite blogging tools: CoSchedule! I had been using the WordPress Editorial Calendar for a year or two, and it worked fine, but I was getting tired of remembering to share my post on all my different social media channels. Sometimes I’d forget one or I wouldn’t have enough time before work in the morning to post the link. CoSchedule basically fixed all those problems.

It’s a paid service, so I was hesitant at first. I signed up for the trial period and have been hooked ever since. I think it is definitely worth the money.

Here’s what my CoSchedule looks like:

calendar
It’s a handy calendar that helps you plan your blog posts. You can create a new draft directly on the calendar, and then drag and drop if you want to move it to a different day. If you are a blogger and you don’t use an editorial calendar, I HIGHLY recommend that you get one. It is so helpful to be able to plan days (and weeks) in advance.

CoSchedule’s unique feature is you can pre-plan social media posts in advance. Whenever I publish a post, I also post it on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc and this allows you to do that and schedule what specific time. It also allows you to post them for the future– days, weeks, or months in advance so your content is always relevant. It also has a Google Analytics feature, and it shows how many times via FB/Twitter/Pinterest your post has been shared!

edit postSomething cool about CoSchedule is you can color-code your posts. Mine are teal for recipes, yellow for mindfulness/mediation posts, orange for guest posts, and green for nutrition posts. What’s even neater is the social media posts that you schedule are also color coordinated. This helps me view my week in advance and meet my personal goal for posts (2 recipes, 2 mindfulness posts, etc). Creating social posts is easy– it allows you to preview what it would look like and include links or images. social post
You can also create social posts in the WordPress editor mode as well:

One other cool feature I like is the “Task” option. You can create tasks (color coded also!!) for certain days for things you need to do, blog related. I create a task for sending my weekly newsletter, emailing people about guest posts, submission deadlines for contests, etc. It’s very helpful to have my to-do list incorporated with my editorial calendar.

I still use Hootsuite to preschedule tweets, but I use CoSchedule for everything else. I love being able to schedule posts and social media in advance, especially since I work a full time job during the day!

Check out the CoSchedule Overview Video to see more features:

I would definitely encourage you to try the two week trial. If you end up loving it like I do, it’s $10/month, or you can save $20 by signing up for the annual plan. You can also share a review (like I am today) and you can save 50% on your subscription.

Have you tried CoSchedule? What are your favorite blogging tools?
