Hi friends!

Today I just wanted to share the news that we adopted a puppy this past weekend! If I’ve been a little absent from the blog and social media, that’s why. A combination of being sleep deprived and not being able to tear myself away from this adorable puppy!

Get ready for an overload of cute puppy pictures, everyone!

Here is me and my boyfriend, Nick the morning we picked him up from the breeder:

1

So a couple months ago, Nick and I were talking and we both decided that now was a good time for a puppy. The main reason is that we live close to my work and I have a pretty flexible schedule that would allow me to be close and take care of him. We don’t know how much longer we’re going to live in this current apartment so now was our chance. We both love dogs and grew up with one and missed having one around!

Here’s the story about Link the Schnoodle!

We had done some research about the type of dog we wanted to get, and we decided on a schnoodle. They’re part schnauzer and part poodle. There’s a couple reasons we like this breed– they’re non shedding, hypoallergenic, and they don’t get very big. We found a breeder in south Texas that just had a litter of schnoodle puppies.

Here’s Link at just two weeks old. One reason we fell in love with him initially was his bright red color, unusual for schnoodles and dogs in general.  The day we found his ad, we put a deposit down!

Here’s Link with his litter mates. There were three boys and three girls. We knew we wanted a blonde/red puppy and his sister (the other blonde puppy) was already taken so we snatched him up right away!

The breeder was really nice and sent us weekly updates and pictures of his progress. Here is is at three weeks old. It looks like he was just woken up here!

10
Here he is at four weeks! You’ll notice as he grows older his eyes moved closer and closer together. So funny to watch!

11
In the pictures the breeder was sending us, his color seemed to be lightening up considerably. But when we picked him up, he was still the dark brown/red like when he was smaller!

Four weeks:

13
Running around with his brothers and sisters! The breeder even sent us a couple videos which was awesome to be able to see him in action.

17
Five weeks! His facial features starting to develop!

14

Seven weeks, the week before we picked him up! Starting to look more grown up here!

Last weekend, we made the drive down to Houston to meet the  breeder and pick him up. We had kept the puppy a secret from our families so it was fun to send them the pictures and hear their reactions!

He was really great on the 4 hour drive home. He sat in our laps and mostly slept the whole way home.

He only weighs two pounds. Two pounds!!

About the name: We were trying to come up with a name for him, and Nick suggested “Lincoln” because he’s the color of a penny. I thought that would be too long of a name, so I said “How about Link?”. Being a guy that loves video games, he instantly thought of Link, the main character from The Legend of Zelda video games. I know, we’re nerds. But it’s short and cute and fits him just right!

So far, he’s doing pretty good for being in a new environment away from his mom and siblings. He’s very playful, loves to lick and wrestle, and loves snuggling up on your chest, really close to your face! Here’s my sister and Link:

18
All that playing and wrestling leads to puppy crashes, which I am happy to oblige!

That’s what we’ve been up to this week!! I may be a little absent from the blog and social media, but hopefully after this week the puppy will be more adjusted and I’ll be able to get back to regular posting schedule!

Have a great week!
