I’ve got BIG news!

If you follow me on social media, you may have seen my announcement back in February. I signed a book deal! Writing and publishing a book has been a life-long dream of mine. When I was a little girl, I’d spend hours in my room writing stories. As I grew up and took more of an interest in nutrition rather than writing, I put the book dream on the back burner.

After I started my food blog and got into photography, the thought of maybe someday publishing my own cookbook made me super excited. When an editor at Victory Belt publishing reached out to me in Fall of 2019 asking if I’d ever had an interest in writing a book, I jumped at the chance!

The publisher told me they were looking for authors to write a couple of new books on intuitive eating. Since I had just become a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to write about something I was passionate about. And bonus, they also wanted the book to be half cookbook!

I can tell you that writing this book is the best and most challenging thing I’ve ever done. I really had no expectations going into it, and knew it would be a big project, but nothing could have prepared me for how much actual work it took, haha!

The first half of the book consists of nine chapters all about intuitive eating for families. What intuitive eating is, how to ditch diets, how to pay attention to your hunger and fullness cues, how to have happy and productive family meals, meal planning, and satisfaction. The second half has 50 recipes — most of which have been made by my family for years. I tested and photographed every single recipe in the book.

After 11+ months of writing, testing, photographing, editing, and editing some more, the book was sent to press last week! It’s scheduled to be released on November 24th. I receive my first paper copy this week, and we’re sending about 40 advanced copies out to reviewers for some *hopefully* positive feedback and promotion!

I will try to write a more detailed post about the entire book writing process if you’re interested in reading more about it. I’ve learned so much about publishing (and about myself lol) over the past year.

I can’t wait for you to check out the book, learn about intuitive eating, and cook some delicious recipes! One of my favorites being this Southwestern Caesar Chicken Salad!
